Finally there is something around that affects Mac Users. I have had several calls today regarding MacProtector and MacDefender, 2 horrible bits of Malware for Mac that can download through a simple google search. DO NOT INSTALL these bits of software, DO NOT put any credit card details in. If you are affected use the following instructions to remove this awful software:
Try using the following to remove (replacing macdefender with macprotector depending on what you have on your system)
Open Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor and quit any processes linked to MACDefender or MacProtector
Delete MACDefender or MacProtector from the Applications folder.
Check System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items and then remove and references to MacDefender or MacProtector
Run a Spotlight search for “MACDefender” to check for any associated files that might still be lingering and delete those.
With this all done the software should be removed. Any queries then get in touch through the normal means.
